Academy Two is one of the four academies within the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School. Three years ago, in 2003 this school and the academies were founded by a group of committed community members, families and educators. In September of 2003, the doors opened and like then, we are still committed to serving the whole child –mind, body and spirit. Academy Two seeks to offer young people the most rigorous, purposeful middle school learning/educational experience possible.

Academy Two is a full inclusion academy that services approximately 160 girls and boys in grades 6-8. We welcome, look for and receive young, energetic, promising students of various backgrounds, cultures & interests from various segments of the Dorchester and Greater Boston communities.

Academy Two maintains a faculty and staff that is diverse, certified and committed to developing our students into young people who are strong, independent and resourceful thinkers/learners. We strongly believe in supporting them through the “middle school years” learning to cooperate with others, knowing right from wrong & most of all possessing the courage to stand, by themselves if need be, for social justice and for what they believe is right.

3. Inclusion Program
Our academy focuses on creative uses of resources to improve student achievement for ALL students. We believe that ALL students can learn and that students learn best when they are taught using a variety of instructional methods in classrooms of diverse learners. Academy 2 families, educators and partners create and recommend Special Education services and programs as determined by each child’s learning needs. We work diligently to work with our families, each other and other partners to provide the interventions and systems that will support students to help them be successful in middle school and in life.
